Menin Gate
The Menin Gate is a war memorial located in Ypres, Belgium. It was built to honor the British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in the First World War and have no known grave. The gate features over 54,000 names inscribed on its walls, representing those who were lost during the conflict.
Inaugurated in 1927, the Menin Gate is a significant site for remembrance. Every evening, the Last Post ceremony is held there, where buglers play a tribute to the fallen soldiers. This tradition has continued since 1928, making it a poignant place for visitors to pay their respects.
