Armenian Kingdom of Vaspurakan
The Armenian Kingdom of Vaspurakan was a medieval Armenian state that existed from the 10th to the 11th centuries. It was located in the region of Lake Van in present-day eastern Turkey. The kingdom was known for its cultural achievements and played a significant role in the development of Armenian identity during this period.
Vaspurakan was founded by the Artsruni dynasty and became a center of trade and culture. The kingdom was characterized by its unique architecture, including the famous Cathedral of Akhtamar, and it fostered a rich literary tradition. It eventually fell to the Seljuk Turks in the late 11th century.
