Aristobulus IV
Aristobulus IV was a member of the Hasmonean dynasty, born around 35 BCE. He was the son of Alexander Jannaeus and Salome Alexandra, making him a significant figure in the history of Judea. Aristobulus IV was known for his claim to the throne, which led to political tensions during his lifetime.
After the death of his mother in 67 BCE, Aristobulus IV was imprisoned by his brother, Hyrcanus II, who became the high priest and ruler. Aristobulus IV's struggle for power exemplified the internal conflicts within the Hasmonean family, which ultimately contributed to the decline of their dynasty.
