Aristobulus
Aristobulus was a Jewish leader and the first to declare himself king of the Jews after the Hasmonean dynasty. He ruled from 104 to 103 BCE and was known for his efforts to expand the territory of Judea. His reign marked a significant period in Jewish history, as he sought to consolidate power and influence in the region.
During his rule, Aristobulus also embraced Hellenistic culture, which was common among leaders of that time. He was a descendant of the Hasmoneans, a family that played a crucial role in the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. His reign ended with his death, leading to a power struggle among his successors.
