Arctic Council
The Arctic Council is an intergovernmental forum established in 1996 to promote cooperation and coordination among Arctic states. It includes eight member countries: Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and the United States. The council focuses on sustainable development and environmental protection in the Arctic region.
In addition to the member states, the Arctic Council also involves six indigenous organizations as permanent participants. The council addresses issues such as climate change, biodiversity, and economic development, aiming to enhance the well-being of Arctic communities and protect the unique Arctic environment.
