Andronikos II Palaiologos
Andronikos II Palaiologos was a Byzantine Emperor who ruled from 1282 to 1328. He was the son of Michael VIII Palaiologos, the founder of the Palaiologos dynasty. His reign was marked by internal strife and external threats, particularly from the Ottoman Turks and the Serbian Empire.
During his rule, Andronikos II faced challenges in maintaining the empire's territory and influence. He was known for his patronage of the arts and his efforts to restore the Hagia Sophia, but his inability to effectively manage the empire's finances and military led to a decline in Byzantine power.
