Amhara People
The Amhara people are an ethnic group primarily found in the central highlands of Ethiopia. They are one of the largest ethnic groups in the country, known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and clothing. The Amhara speak Amharic, which is also the official language of Ethiopia.
Historically, the Amhara played a significant role in the formation of the Ethiopian state and the establishment of the Solomonic dynasty. Their society is largely agrarian, with many engaged in farming and livestock rearing. The Amhara are also known for their contributions to Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, which is a central aspect of their identity.
