Oromo People
The Oromo people are one of the largest ethnic groups in Ethiopia, primarily residing in the Oromia region. They speak the Oromo language, which is part of the Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family. The Oromo have a rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and festivals that celebrate their history and identity.
Historically, the Oromo people have practiced a unique system of governance known as the Gadaa system, which organizes society into age sets and promotes democratic decision-making. Their economy is largely based on agriculture and pastoralism, with many Oromo people engaged in farming and raising livestock.
