Amadou Bamba
Amadou Bamba was a prominent Senegalese religious leader and founder of the Muridiyya brotherhood, which emphasizes hard work, education, and spiritual devotion. Born in 1853, he became known for his teachings that promoted peace and tolerance, as well as his resistance against colonial rule in Senegal.
Bamba's influence extended beyond religion; he advocated for agricultural development and self-sufficiency among his followers. He spent several years in exile due to his opposition to the French colonial authorities but continued to inspire many through his writings and teachings until his death in 1927.
