Alp Arslan
Alp Arslan was the second sultan of the Seljuk Empire, reigning from 1063 to 1072. He is best known for his military prowess and for expanding the empire's territory significantly. His most famous victory came at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, where he defeated the Byzantine Empire, paving the way for Turkish settlement in Anatolia.
Alp Arslan was a patron of culture and learning, promoting the development of Islamic civilization. His reign marked a period of stability and growth for the Seljuks, as he worked to consolidate power and strengthen the empire. He was assassinated in 1072, but his legacy continued through his successors.
