Alfonso I of Aragon
Alfonso I of Aragon, also known as Alfonso the Battler, was a medieval king who ruled from 1104 to 1134. He was born in 1073 and was a member of the House of Jiménez. Alfonso is best known for his military campaigns to expand the territory of the Kingdom of Aragon and for his efforts to conquer the Kingdom of Navarre and parts of Catalonia.
During his reign, Alfonso I successfully captured several key cities, including Zaragoza and Huesca, which strengthened Aragon's position in the Iberian Peninsula. He was also a significant figure in the Reconquista, the effort to reclaim land from Muslim rule. After his death, he left a legacy of territorial expansion and consolidation for his successors.
