Alexander Papagos
Alexander Papagos was a prominent Greek military officer and politician, born on December 9, 1883. He served as the Chief of the General Staff of the Hellenic Army during World War II and played a crucial role in the Greek campaign against Axis forces. After the war, he became a key figure in Greek politics.
In 1952, Papagos was elected Prime Minister of Greece, leading the country until 1955. His government focused on economic recovery and modernization, as well as strengthening Greece's position within NATO. Papagos passed away on October 17, 1955, leaving a significant legacy in both military and political spheres.
