Alevi
The term "Alevi" refers to a religious and cultural group primarily found in Turkey, Iran, and parts of the Middle East. They are often considered a branch of Shia Islam, but their beliefs and practices include unique elements that distinguish them from mainstream Sunni and Shia Muslims. Alevi communities emphasize the importance of spiritual leaders known as dedes and hold communal gatherings called cem for worship and social activities.
Alevi beliefs focus on the teachings of Ali, the cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, whom they regard as a central figure. They value concepts such as love, tolerance, and social justice, often interpreting religious texts in a metaphorical manner. Alevi identity is closely tied to cultural traditions, music, and rituals that reflect their rich heritage.
