Aethelwulf
Aethelwulf was a king of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex, ruling from 839 to 856 AD. He was the son of Egbert, the first king to establish a stable rule over much of England. Aethelwulf is known for his military campaigns against Viking invasions and for strengthening the defenses of his kingdom.
During his reign, Aethelwulf also focused on religious reforms and education. He was a devout Christian and supported the church, which helped to promote literacy and learning in his realm. Aethelwulf's legacy continued through his children, including his son Aethelbald, who succeeded him as king.
