Aesculus Glabra
Aesculus glabra, commonly known as the Ohio buckeye, is a deciduous tree native to the central and eastern United States. It typically grows to a height of 20 to 30 feet and features palmate leaves with five to seven leaflets. The tree produces attractive yellow-green flowers in the spring, which develop into spiky seed capsules containing shiny brown seeds.
The seeds of Aesculus glabra are toxic to humans and some animals, but they are a food source for wildlife, including squirrels. This tree is often found in forests, along riverbanks, and in parks, valued for its ornamental qualities and shade.
