Adivasi Rights
Adivasi rights refer to the legal and social entitlements of the indigenous communities in India, known as Adivasis. These rights aim to protect their land, culture, and resources, ensuring that they have a voice in decisions affecting their lives. Adivasis often face challenges such as displacement and loss of traditional livelihoods due to industrialization and development projects.
The Indian Constitution recognizes the rights of Adivasis through various provisions, including the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006. This legislation seeks to restore land rights to Adivasi communities and promote their socio-economic development while preserving their unique cultural heritage.
