Adil Shahi Dynasty
The Adil Shahi Dynasty was a prominent Muslim dynasty that ruled the Deccan region of India from the late 15th century to the 17th century. Founded by Yusuf Adil Shah, the dynasty established its capital in Bijapur and became known for its contributions to architecture, culture, and the arts. The rulers were known for their tolerance towards different religions and fostered a rich cultural environment.
The dynasty reached its peak under Muhammad Adil Shah, who is famous for constructing the iconic Gol Gumbaz, a mausoleum with one of the largest domes in the world. The Adil Shahi rulers engaged in frequent conflicts with neighboring states, including the Mughal Empire and the Marathas, which eventually led to their decline in the late 17th century.
