Additives
Additives are substances added to products, especially food, to enhance their qualities. They can improve flavor, texture, appearance, or shelf life. Common examples include preservatives that prevent spoilage, coloring agents that make food more visually appealing, and flavor enhancers that boost taste.
In addition to food, additives are also used in other industries, such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. For instance, emulsifiers help mix oil and water in lotions, while stabilizers maintain the consistency of medicines. While many additives are safe, some may cause allergic reactions or other health concerns, making regulation important.
