Adams Peak
Adams Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is a prominent mountain located in central Sri Lanka. Standing at 2,243 meters (7,359 feet), it is famous for its distinctive conical shape and the sacred footprint at its summit, believed to be that of Buddha, Shiva, or St. Thomas by different religious groups. The peak is a popular pilgrimage site, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
The climb to the summit involves a challenging trek of about 5,500 steps, often undertaken at night to witness the breathtaking sunrise. The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, featuring lush forests and diverse wildlife, making it a significant ecological site as well.
