Achilles Tendon Injury
An Achilles tendon injury occurs when the tendon connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone becomes damaged. This injury can result from overuse, sudden increases in physical activity, or trauma. Symptoms often include pain, swelling, and stiffness in the back of the heel, making it difficult to walk or run.
Treatment for an Achilles tendon injury typically involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE). In some cases, physical therapy may be recommended to strengthen the tendon and improve flexibility. Severe injuries might require surgical intervention to repair the tendon.
