The term "211 Universities" refers to a group of higher education institutions in China that are recognized for their significant role in the country's development. Established in 1995, the 211 Project aimed to enhance the quality of education and research at these universities, ensuring they contribute to national economic and social progress.
There are currently 112 universities included in the 211 Project, which receive special funding and support from the government.
