1980 Summer Olympics
The 1980 Summer Olympics were held in Moscow, Soviet Union from July 19 to August 3. This event featured athletes from 80 countries competing in 21 sports, including athletics, swimming, and gymnastics.
However, the games were significantly affected by a boycott led by the United States, protesting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. As a result, many countries, including Canada and West Germany, also chose not to participate, leading to a reduced number of athletes and events compared to previous Olympics.
