12-step programs
A 12-step program is a structured approach to recovery from addiction, compulsive behaviors, or other personal challenges. It was originally developed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in the 1930s and has since been adapted for various issues, including drug addiction, gambling, and overeating. The program emphasizes personal accountability, spiritual growth, and support from peers.
Participants work through a series of twelve steps that guide them in acknowledging their problems, seeking help, and making amends. The steps encourage individuals to reflect on their lives, develop coping strategies, and build a supportive community, fostering long-term recovery and personal development.
