판 tectonics
판 tectonics is the scientific theory that explains the movement of the Earth's outer shell, known as the lithosphere. This outer layer is divided into several large and small pieces called tectonic plates. These plates float on the semi-fluid layer beneath them, called the asthenosphere, and their interactions can cause earthquakes, volcanic activity, and the formation of mountains.
The movement of tectonic plates occurs due to the heat from the Earth's interior, which creates convection currents in the mantle. As these plates move, they can collide, pull apart, or slide past each other. This process shapes the Earth's surface and is responsible for many geological features and events.
