火把节
火把节, or the Torch Festival, is a traditional celebration primarily observed by the Yi people in China. It usually takes place on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month and marks the end of the harvest season. The festival features vibrant activities such as torch parades, singing, dancing, and various competitions, all aimed at promoting community spirit and cultural heritage.
During the festival, large torches made of wood and straw are lit and carried through the streets. This symbolizes the driving away of evil spirits and the welcoming of good fortune. The event also includes traditional foods, showcasing the rich culinary culture of the Yi ethnic group.
