東大寺宗
東大寺宗 (Tōdaiji School) is a Japanese Buddhist sect that originated from the 東大寺 (Tōdaiji Temple) in Nara, Japan. Established in the 8th century, it is part of the 華厳宗 (Kegon School) and emphasizes the teachings of the 華厳経 (Avatamsaka Sutra). The sect focuses on the interconnectedness of all phenomena and the importance of enlightenment.
The Tōdaiji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, houses the Great Buddha (大仏, Daibutsu), a significant symbol of Japanese Buddhism. The Tōdaiji School played a crucial role in the development of Buddhist thought and practice in Japan, influencing various other sects and schools over the centuries.
