Λάο Τσε, also known as Laozi, was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer, traditionally regarded as the founder of Taoism. He is best known for his work, the Tao Te Ching, which emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao, or the fundamental nature of the universe.
Little is known about his life, but he is often depicted as a contemporary of Confucius. His teachings advocate simplicity, humility, and compassion, influencing not only Chinese philosophy but also various aspects of Chinese culture, including art, politics, and medicine.
