Homonym: Αλέξανδρος (Defender)
Αλέξανδρος, commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of Macedonia who lived from 356 to 323 BC. He is famous for creating one of the largest empires in ancient history, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into parts of India. His military strategies and tactics are still studied in modern times.
Born in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia, Αλέξανδρος was tutored by the philosopher Aristotle. He became king after the assassination of his father, Philip II, and quickly set out to conquer the Persian Empire.
