{Treaty of Turkmenchay
The Treaty of Turkmenchay was signed on February 21, 1828, between the Russian Empire and the Qajar Dynasty of Persia. This treaty concluded the Russo-Persian War of 1826-1828 and marked a significant territorial loss for Persia, granting Russia control over several regions, including parts of modern-day Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In addition to territorial changes, the treaty established a framework for diplomatic relations between the two nations. It also included provisions for the protection of Christian subjects in Persia and allowed for the establishment of Russian consulates in Persian territories, further solidifying Russian influence in the region.
