Treaty of Gulistan
The Treaty of Gulistan was signed on October 21, 1813, between the Russian Empire and the Persian Empire. This agreement marked the end of the Russo-Persian War (1804-1813) and established territorial boundaries in the South Caucasus region. As a result, Persia ceded significant territories, including parts of modern-day Azerbaijan and Georgia, to Russia.
The treaty also laid the groundwork for future conflicts and treaties in the region, including the Treaty of Turkmenchay in 1828. It significantly expanded Russian influence in the Caucasus and weakened Persian control, altering the political landscape of the area for years to come.
