{Jacobite army
The Jacobite army was a military force that sought to restore the Stuart monarchy to the throne of Great Britain. It was primarily active during the late 17th and early 18th centuries, particularly during the Jacobite risings. The army consisted mainly of Scottish Highlanders and was supported by some English and Irish troops.
The most notable uprising occurred in 1745, led by Charles Edward Stuart, also known as "Bonnie Prince Charlie." The Jacobite army achieved initial successes but ultimately faced defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, which marked the end of the Jacobite cause and led to significant repercussions for Scotland.
