Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a fast heart rhythm that originates in the lower chambers of the heart, known as the ventricles. This condition can cause the heart to beat more than 100 times per minute, which may lead to insufficient blood flow to the body. VT can be life-threatening if it lasts for a long time or leads to more serious arrhythmias.
Symptoms of VT may include dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath, or chest pain. It can occur in people with underlying heart conditions, such as coronary artery disease or heart failure. Treatment options may include medications, electrical cardioversion, or implantable devices like a defibrillator.
