varicocele
A varicocele is a condition characterized by enlarged veins within the scrotum, similar to varicose veins that can occur in the legs. It typically develops when the valves in the veins that carry blood away from the testicles become weak or damaged, leading to blood pooling and vein enlargement. This condition is most commonly found in males aged 15 to 25.
Varicoceles can sometimes cause discomfort, swelling, or fertility issues, as they may affect sperm production and quality. Diagnosis is usually made through a physical examination or an ultrasound. Treatment options include lifestyle changes, medication, or surgical procedures if symptoms are severe or fertility is impacted.
