the planets in our solar system
The solar system consists of eight major planets that orbit the Sun. These planets are divided into two categories: terrestrial planets and gas giants. The terrestrial planets—Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars—are rocky and have solid surfaces. In contrast, the gas giants—Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—are mostly composed of gases and have thick atmospheres.
Each planet has unique characteristics. For example, Jupiter is the largest planet and has a famous storm called the Great Red Spot, while Saturn is known for its stunning rings. Earth is the only planet known to support life, and Mars is often studied for its potential to host life in the past.
