Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun and is known for its striking blue color, which is due to the presence of methane in its atmosphere. It is unique among the planets in our solar system because it rotates on its side, making its axial tilt about 98 degrees. This unusual tilt results in extreme seasonal variations.
Discovered in 1781 by William Herschel, Uranus is classified as an ice giant, composed mainly of water, ammonia, and methane ices. It has a faint ring system and 27 known moons, with Titania and Oberon being the largest. Its distance from the Sun makes it one of the coldest places in the solar system.
