sphinxes
A sphinx is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, often associated with ancient Egyptian and Greek cultures. In Egypt, the Great Sphinx of Giza is one of the most famous examples, believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre. Sphinxes are often seen as guardians, symbolizing strength and wisdom.
In Greek mythology, the sphinx is known for posing riddles to travelers, famously asking, "What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?" Those who could not answer were said to be devoured. This version of the sphinx emphasizes intelligence and cunning.
