spectacled bear
The spectacled bear, also known as the Andean bear, is a medium-sized bear native to the Andes mountains in South America. It is named for the distinctive light-colored markings around its eyes, which resemble spectacles. These bears typically weigh between 220 to 440 pounds and have a shaggy black or dark brown coat.
Spectacled bears are primarily herbivorous, feeding on fruits, leaves, and flowers, but they may also consume insects and small animals. They are excellent climbers and often forage in trees. As a vulnerable species, their populations are threatened by habitat loss and poaching.
