Andean Bear
The Andean Bear, also known as the spectacled bear, is a unique species native to the Andes Mountains in South America. It is the only bear species found in this region and is characterized by its distinctive facial markings, which often resemble spectacles. These bears typically have a black or dark brown coat and can weigh between 220 to 440 pounds.
Andean Bears primarily inhabit cloud forests and grasslands, where they feed on a diet of fruits, plants, and occasionally small animals. They are excellent climbers and spend much of their time in trees. Due to habitat loss and poaching, the Andean Bear is classified as vulnerable, making conservation efforts essential for its survival.
