sloths
Sloths are slow-moving mammals found primarily in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. They belong to the order Pilosa and are known for their unique adaptations, such as long limbs and a low metabolic rate, which help them conserve energy. Sloths spend most of their lives hanging upside down from trees, where they feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers.
There are two main types of sloths: two-toed sloths and three-toed sloths. These animals are excellent swimmers and can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes underwater. Sloths have a symbiotic relationship with algae, which grows on their fur, providing camouflage and nutrients.
