out-of-body experience
An out-of-body experience (OBE) is a phenomenon where a person feels as though they are observing their physical body from a location outside of it. This can occur during various situations, such as near-death experiences, extreme stress, or deep meditation. People often report a sensation of floating or moving away from their body, sometimes viewing their surroundings from above.
Research into OBEs suggests they may be linked to brain activity, particularly in areas responsible for spatial awareness and self-perception. While some individuals interpret these experiences as spiritual or supernatural, scientific explanations often focus on neurological and psychological factors, such as dissociation or hallucination.
