intelligence quotient (IQ)
Intelligence quotient, or IQ, is a measure used to assess human intelligence through standardized tests. These tests evaluate various cognitive abilities, including reasoning, problem-solving, and comprehension. The resulting score is intended to provide a comparative measure of an individual's intellectual capabilities relative to the general population.
The average IQ score is set at 100, with most people scoring between 85 and 115. Scores above or below this range can indicate higher or lower cognitive abilities, respectively. However, IQ tests have limitations and do not capture all aspects of intelligence, such as creativity or emotional understanding.
