infraspinatus muscle
The infraspinatus muscle is one of the four rotator cuff muscles located in the shoulder. It originates from the infraspinous fossa of the scapula and attaches to the greater tubercle of the humerus. This muscle plays a crucial role in stabilizing the shoulder joint and allows for external rotation of the arm.
In addition to its primary function, the infraspinatus muscle helps with shoulder movements such as lifting and throwing. It works in conjunction with other muscles, including the supraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis, to maintain shoulder stability and facilitate a wide range of arm motions.
