Supraspinatus
The supraspinatus is a small muscle located in the shoulder, part of the rotator cuff group. It originates from the supraspinous fossa of the scapula and attaches to the greater tubercle of the humerus. This muscle plays a crucial role in shoulder movement, particularly in lifting the arm away from the body.
In addition to its primary function of arm abduction, the supraspinatus helps stabilize the shoulder joint during various activities. Injuries or tears to this muscle can lead to pain and limited mobility, often requiring physical therapy or surgical intervention for recovery.
