Teres Minor
The Teres Minor is a small, cylindrical muscle located in the shoulder region. It is part of the rotator cuff, which includes other muscles like the Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, and Subscapularis. The primary function of the Teres Minor is to assist in the external rotation of the arm and stabilize the shoulder joint.
Originating from the lateral border of the scapula, the Teres Minor inserts into the greater tubercle of the humerus. It is innervated by the Axillary Nerve, which also supplies the Deltoid muscle. Proper functioning of the Teres Minor is essential for shoulder mobility and overall upper limb movement.
