hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room or chamber. This increased pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve in the blood, which can help promote healing and fight infections. It is commonly used to treat conditions like decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, and chronic wounds.
During a typical session, patients may spend 60 to 120 minutes in the chamber, where the pressure is usually set to two to three times that of normal atmospheric pressure. While generally safe, HBOT can have side effects, such as ear pain or temporary vision changes.
