Horned toads, also known as horned lizards, are a group of reptiles found primarily in the western United States and parts of Mexico. They are easily recognized by their flattened bodies and distinctive horns on their heads. These lizards are well-adapted to arid environments, often blending in with their surroundings to avoid predators. These creatures primarily feed on ants and other small insects, using their sticky tongues to catch prey. Horned toads have a unique defense mechanism: when threatened, they can puff up their bodies and even squirt blood from their eyes to deter attackers.
