henges
Henges are prehistoric earthworks characterized by a circular or oval-shaped bank and a ditch surrounding it. They often contain a central area that may have been used for rituals or gatherings. The most famous example is Stonehenge, located in England, which features large standing stones arranged in a circular pattern.
These structures date back to the Neolithic period, around 3000 to 2000 BCE, and are found primarily in Britain and Ireland. Henges may have served various purposes, including astronomical observations, ceremonial activities, or as communal spaces for ancient communities.
