golden-cheeked warbler
The golden-cheeked warbler is a small songbird native to the central Texas region of the United States. It is easily identifiable by its striking yellow cheeks and black crown, along with olive-green upperparts and white underparts. This bird primarily inhabits juniper-oak woodlands, where it builds its nests in Ashe juniper trees.
This species is migratory, spending winters in Mexico and returning to Texas in the spring for breeding. The golden-cheeked warbler is considered endangered due to habitat loss from urban development and changes in land use. Conservation efforts are in place to protect its remaining habitats.
