germ (Seed)
A germ, in the context of a seed, refers to the embryo that develops into a new plant. It is the part of the seed that contains the genetic material necessary for growth. The germ is surrounded by the seed's protective layers, which help it survive until conditions are right for germination.
When a seed is planted in soil and receives water and warmth, the germ begins to grow. It will eventually develop into a root and shoot, leading to the formation of a new plant. This process is essential for the reproduction of many flowering plants and crops.
