furniture beetle
The furniture beetle, scientifically known as Anobium punctatum, is a small wood-boring insect commonly found in homes and furniture. Adult beetles are about 2 to 5 millimeters long and have a brownish color. They lay their eggs in cracks and crevices of wooden items, and the larvae feed on the wood, causing damage over time.
These beetles prefer softwoods, such as pine and spruce, but can also infest hardwoods. Infestations are often identified by small holes in wood surfaces and fine sawdust. Proper treatment includes removing infested items and using insecticides or professional pest control services to prevent further damage.
